Suspect in fatal Kalamazoo shooting in custody

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — A suspect is in custody following a shooting at a Kalamazoo party store early Saturday morning.

The investigation led to Wyoming where a SWAT team extracted a man from a home there just a few hours ago and took him into custody.

The arrest came in a quiet neighborhood off 28th Street between Byron Center and Burlingame avenues when the sound of police calling for a man to give himself up could be heard loud and clear along with sirens.

After a few minutes, police brought out a woman, a teen boy and a 27-year-old in handcuffs.

The woman and the teen would be released, but Kalamazoo police tell 24 Hour News 8 that the man is the suspect in the fatal shooting that happened just after 1:30 a.m. at J & B Discount Liquor in the 100 block of W Stockbridge Avenue.
