Pence to visit GR, pay respects to Richard DeVos Wednesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — 24 Hour News 8 Political Reporter Rick Albin has learned Vice President Mike Pence will be in Grand Rapids Wednesday.

The vice president will pay his respects to the family of Richard DeVos, the Amway co-founder and was one of the area’s biggest philanthropist, who died last week. He was 92 years old.

Pence released the following statement:

“Saddened to hear of the passing of Richard DeVos, a towering figure in American business and conservative politics. DeVos was a generous philanthropist and pillar of his community. His family and loved ones are in my prayers. He will be missed.”

Public visitations will take place Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Amway Grand Plaza Hotel's Ambassador Ballroom.
