2 killed in Kalamazoo Co. boating crash ID'd

SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in a deadly boat crash in Schoolcraft Township Saturday.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said the boat, driven by 53-year-old Wilson Rogers of Kalamazoo, was trying to go into a tunnel from Tub Lake into Barton Lake shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday.

As the boat entered the tunnel, which the sheriff’s office said is a cement barrier that goes underneath Portage Road, two passengers stuck their heads on the cement.
