CityFest draws thousands to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Ah-Nab-Awen Park was home for an evening of family fun, games, food and music with a message.

More than 400 churches teamed up with the international evangelical Luis and Andrew Palau organization to bring a gospel message to thousands.

The event on Saturday and Sunday have been referred to as Rich DeVos’ last gift to West Michigan. DeVos contacted Luis Palau two years ago to begin planning the large Christian event.

DeVos died only days before this event came to fruition and 84-year-old Luis Palau is suffering terminal stage 4 cancer, giving this rally even more poignancy.

Organizers were expecting 10,000 to 15,000 attendees each of the two days of this event and Saturday’s crowd seemed to confirm their estimates.
