Detroit Tigers' Mario Impemba-Rod Allen altercation: Everything we know

(via Detroit Free Press) -- This much, we know: Mario Impemba and Rod Allen are not friends.

Despite working together at Fox Sports Detroit for 16-plus seasons as the Detroit Tigers' play-by-play broadcaster and chief color analyst, respectively, the two have shared what can be best described as a contentious relationship.

“I don’t think it was a secret,” one co-worker said.

Even so, while on air, the pair has put their personal differences aside, serving as a quality broadcast tandem since debuting together in 2003.

But when they signed off on Tuesday night, a physical altercation ensued, one which will likely define — and could perhaps end — their run together in the broadcast booth.

According to multiple persons with knowledge of the situation, the altercation ensued immediately after the Tigers’ 8-3 win over the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. It was described by one person who was present as “severe,” something that co-workers had never before seen in the booth.
