Report of violent crime near Hope College campus

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Hope College sent out an alert after receiving reports of a violent crime that occurred near the college campus in Holland Sunday night.

A Tweet sent out by Hope College's Twitter account said it happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of East 16th Street and College Avenue, blocks from the Hope College Campus.

Students were instructed to take shelter until further notice.

Another tweet sent an hour later gave the all clear and said the alert was strictly precautionary, but advised students to take caution nontheless.
