To The Point: Schuette, Whitmer on race for governor


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Now that the primary election is over, it’s time to look ahead to what the race for governor will look like.

Gretchen Whitmer won the Democratic nomination in Tuesday’s election and told her supporters she would welcome everyone — especially those who supported other Democrats during the primary.

"This is a big tent, join us, come on inside,” she said. “Government works best when passionate people participate, when we debate ideas, when we roll up our sleeves and solve problems together because we got a lot of work to do. We need to throw Bill Schuette a big retirement party come November 6th.”
