Grand Rapids to offer free shuttles on weekends

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Visitors to Grand Rapids’ downtown area will have a free option to get around the city on weekends.

Grand Rapids’ Downtown Area Shuttle is expanding its shuttle service beginning Monday, Aug. 27, in hopes of doubling ridership within the next year to 60,000 monthly users.

For the first time in its 20-year history, the transit group will be offering Saturday and Sunday service, in addition to longer hours during the weekdays.

The new hours for DASH West and DASH North will be as follows:

  • Monday through Wednesday, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Thursday and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
