Kzoo Co. deputies investigate suspicious encounter

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are investigating after a child said he was approached by a strange man in the Kalamazoo area.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday along Meadowstone Drive, in the area of E G Avenue and N. Sprinkle Road, in Richland Township.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office says it got a report that a juvenile was riding his bike when a stranger said he would give him candy if he got in his car. The juvenile ran home and told his mom. The stranger drove off.

The man was described as a light-skinned black male around the age of 30. He was of average build, was balding and had a stubbly beard. He was wearing an older red T-shirt and dirty jeans. The sheriff's office said he also slouched a little while standing.

His car was described as an older four-door maroon sedan in poor condition. It may have had damage to one of the headlights.
