DORR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One teenager was killed and another injured in a rollover crash west of Wayland Friday afternoon.
It happened shortly after 1 p.m. on 20th Street near 136th Avenue on the border of Dorr and Hopkins townships.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office says two teen girls, one of whom recently got her driver's permit and another who is not old enough to drive, took an SUV without a parent's knowledge. The younger girl was driving along 20th, which is a gravel road, when she started going too fast and lost control.
The SUV rolled and the passenger, who was not wearing her seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. The passenger died at the scene.
The driver was hospitalized in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.
