Authorities: Man falls asleep at wheel, crashes into vehicle

PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after authorities say a man crashed into another vehicle.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Ottawa County Sheriffs Department says a 44-year-old Holland man fell asleep at the wheel while driving on Lakeshore Drive south of Butternut Drive in Port Sheldon Township and hit another car, driven by a 21-year-old Grand Rapids resident, head on. 

Authorities say both the 44-year-old man and the 21-year-old were injured in the crash, but were transported to Holland Hospital where they are in stable condition.
