Shooting victim's family: ‘Don't think he deserved this'

ALBION, Mich. (WOOD) — A candlelight vigil was held Sunday evening for a man who was shot and killed in Kalamazoo the previous day.

Family members identified the man killed as Lonelle “Lonnie” Langston, 22.

Love for him could be seen and felt as hundreds of people came out for the vigil at McIntosh Park in Albion, where Langston was from. Everyone who spoke with 24 Hour News 8 remembered his smile.

“He was just somebody that everybody loved and he loved everybody, so it was devastating,” his cousin, Victoria Crenshaw, said before the vigil.

She and her sister Alize' Crenshaw recalled Langston as one of their best friends.

The memorial event started with a prayer and colorful sky lanterns were released to honor Langston.
