Maranda ushers in summer with first Park Party Thursday

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Thursday marks the official start to summer and Maranda’s Park Parties.

For the first time ever, hot dogs will be cooking on the grill at Wyoming’s Lamar Park.

“So you will walk into Lamar Park, you will smell those hot dogs sizzling on that grill – those are free for anyone 18 and under,” Maranda said.

Volunteers will serve up free lunches starting at 11:30 a.m. The Park Party fun runs from noon until 2 p.m. and will include ice cream, inflatables, a zip line, super slide, free haircuts, prizes and a chance to meet princesses and some familiar faces from WOOD TV8.

“It’s going to be an amazing day of free fun,” Maranda told 24 Hour News 8 Daybreak.

Lamar Park also features a fun extra for visitors.

“And as things warm up, you see that there’s a splash pad in Wyoming, so bring the swimsuits and stay and play all day,” Maranda said.

If you can’t make it out to the first Park Party of the season, there are four more chances to enjoy the free fun this summer:

  • June 28 | Smith Ryerson Park, Muskegon
  • July 12 | Kollen Park, Holland
  • July 19 | East Kentwood High School, Kentwood
  • July 26 | Bronson Park, Kalamazoo
