GLENN, Mich. (WOOD) — A little girl suffering from a rare brain cancer is getting help from her community.
Six-year-old Avery June Betts was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma in February this year. The cancer is so rare that it has been untreatable until recently.
"She's in a clinical trial in Augusta, Georgia and her treatment is going very well. She's responding very well. Doctors are optimistic,” said Avery’s great aunt Lynne Erickson. "We just pray for a miracle that she can be cured of this devastating disease.”
Avery’s parents both work as firefighters in Allegan County and save lives every day.
