W. MI teams to meet for basketball state title

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Two West Michigan schools will play for a state championship at the Breslin Center on Saturday.

In Class B, Grand Rapids Catholic Central took on defending state champion New Haven on Friday. The Cougars were led to a 69-53 win by Austin Braun, who had 31 points.

Braun was forced to lead the Cougars after Michigan State University commit Marcus Bingham, Jr. fouled out of the game with five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Bingham finished the game with an 11 point, 13 rebound double-double in the winning effort.

Catholic Central will take on Benton Harbor, who knocked off River Rouge 60-49 in the other Class B semifinal on Friday.
