Rain causes potholes, crews keep patching

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — With heavy rain falling across West Michigan Tuesday, flooded streets weren’t the only problem. Another major issue is what lies beneath: potholes.

It was a worst-case commute this morning on I-196 near Hudsonville. The potholes were so bad they forced one lane to be shut down after several vehicles were damaged.

“I saw one and then by the time I saw the guy on the side of the road, I thought, ‘Oh, I should slow down,’ I had already been into it,” driver Michael Wilson said.
