Chief: 2 in custody for deadly Muskegon Heights shooting

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people are in custody in connection to a deadly shooting that happened Thursday in Muskegon Heights.

Muskegon Heights Police Chief Joseph Thomas Jr. confirmed both people were in custody Friday afternoon.

Both Muskegon Heights police and Michigan State Police were at a taped-off crime scene Thursday night in the area of Jefferson St. and W. Maplewood Ave.

Thomas confirmed that night that there was a shooting, but would not elaborate with details. However, a 24 Hour News 8 crew witnessed a medical examiner removing a body from a home at the scene. Just before 11:30 p.m., the scene of the shooting had cleared.
