A tragic case has emerged in Cadillac, where authorities allege that a pregnant woman, Rebecca Park, was murdered by her biological mother and stepfather. Rebecca, 22, was last seen on November 3 and was found dead on November 25 in the Manistee National Forest. Her unborn baby had been cut from her body, and both the mother and child did not survive.
Rebecca was 38 weeks pregnant at the time of her disappearance. According to a court affidavit, her mother, Cortney Bartholomew, and stepfather, Brad Bartholomew, admitted to the crime during police interviews. They are charged with premeditated murder, torture, and other felonies, and are being held without bond.
Wexford County Prosecutor Johanna Carey described the crime as "evil personified" and detailed how Rebecca was forced into a vehicle, taken to the woods, and stabbed multiple times before the baby was removed. The couple allegedly disposed of the baby's body in a cooler.
The motive for the crime remains unclear, but the case has shocked the community. Rebecca was raised by adoptive parents, and her biological mother had maintained a relationship with her. The Bartholomews are expected to face trial, and the case continues to unfold as investigators seek justice for Rebecca and her unborn child.
