GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a car meetup that led to a car fire and a shooting that injured two women.
The women are expected to recover from their injuries.
GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom says a call for a car fire was the first sign that something was happening. Winstrom says GRPD teams were already investigating a shooting on the southeast side of the city when the call came in.
The fire department arrived on scene and began working on the fire when a fight broke out among meetup participants and shots were fired.
