GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Kent County Sheriff's Office says a staff member on board a Thornapple Kellogg school bus was one of two people hospitalized Wednesday morning after a crash with a car.
It happened in the northbound lanes of the East Beltline in Grand Rapids Township just after 8 a.m. Sheriff's Sergeant Scott Dietrich tells WOOD Radio how it happened.
"The school bus was turning right, so northbound to the Beltline when it was struck by a northbound sedan," he said. "The injuries in the bus were to one of the staff members."
Dietrich says that person briefly lost consciousness. The driver of the car also suffered a head injury and some scrapes. The crash scene cleared around 11:30 a.m. There were three staff members and four students on the bus. None of the students was seriously injured.
