GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The Grand Rapids City Commission voted 6-1 to approve incentives for three new towers in the downtown area.

Fulmar Property Holdings wants to build on nearly seven acres near Fulton and Market, which includes the former site of Charley's Crab.

The developers are asking for nearly $600 million in incentives.

The project calls for a 27-story hotel and condominium tower, a 21-story office tower and a 43-story residential tower that, once built, would be the tallest building in the city.

State-level incentive approval is still needed before construction starts next fall.
