Wyoming Police: Suspects in Walmart shooting on 54th St now charged

WYOMING, Mich. -- Wyoming Police have taken suspects into custody in connection with the Dec. 31 shooting inside a Walmart store on 54th Street.

They say Camrin Carpenter has been formally charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Armed Robbery, as well as two additional felony charges. And Latrell young is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Discharge of a Weapon Inside of a Building Causing Serious Impairment, and three other felony charges.

A man whom police figure was the intended target was shot during the incident, and a woman who was an innocent bystander was shot. Both are recovering.

Wyoming Police had responded police, along with fire personnel from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety, to the Walmart at 355 54th Street SW around 6 p.m. on Dec. 31.

They say the suspect was armed with a handgun and was wearing a black parka style coat with fur around the collar of the hood, a red sweatshirt, and dark pants. A second person was accompanying the suspect who was wearing a black sweatshirt with white lettering across the chest, black mask, and light-colored pants.

"The Wyoming Police Department would like to greatly thank any and all tipsters that called in via Silent Observer or calling detectives directly," Lt. Andrew Koeller said.
