Chefs training for disaster relief kitchens

A group of local chefs are learning the ins and outs of running a disaster relief kitchen.

Grand Rapids Community College held a two day disaster training with World Central Kitchen, an international relief agency that gets disaster victims food across the globe.

Chef Alejandro Perez, an instructor with World Central Kitchen, says the training is a crash course in everything from volunteer management to nutrition to distribution.

The chefs worked on assembly lines to make over 500 sandwiches in less than an hour.
