DNR: Take bird feeders down to avoid bears

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is telling home owners to take down their bird feeders as they may attract bears.

Black bears in the state are currently looking to fatten up for winter and may be drawn to backyards by possible food sources.

The DNR says many bears start hibernating as early as October.

Officials say its better for the animals to not eat human-provided foods so they don't lose their fear of humans.
