October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so you may see more purple in West Michigan to bring attention to the topic.
One in four women and one in seven men experience physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime according to experts.
The YWCA for West Central Michigan is planning several events to bring awareness to the month.
The organization will turn the Blue Bridge purple all month long.
The YWCA will also hold a candle light vigil on October 11.
