Pickleball players seek AED after teammate collapses

A group of pickleball players is realizing they need to do more, after saving one of their teammates after he collapsed in cardiac arrest.

After a yearlong effort, the team was given an automated external defibrillator, or an AED, to have on the court if needed.

Mary Johnson plays pickleball at the Durham Road Courts frequently and said it was important for their age group to be protected in situations they cannot control.

Mercy Health Muskegon connected Johnson with Michigan-based Health Alliance Plan, who then donated an AED to be placed at the courts.
