Cascade fire chief saves woman's life

A 20-year-old woman owes her life to the timing of the Cascade Township fire chief.

Chief Adam Magers was the first person on the scene of a fire on Ashwood Court on Saturday night.

Magers decided to open the front door of the home to determine conditions inside so he was prepared once backup crews arrived.

Magers says he was about to close the door when he heard a cough inside.

He had none of his gear on but decided he would battle through the smoke to get the victim out.

Magers was able to pull the unconscious woman from the second floor of the home.
