GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Spring frost is being blamed for a decline in Michigan's apple crop.
Amy Irish-Brown with Michigan State University extension in Grand Rapids tells WOOD-TV that apples will not be in short supply, but some varieties may not be available in January and February.
“Our crop is normally 24 (or) 25 million bushels," Irish-Brown said. "This year, the crop estimate came out a few weeks ago; it was 18.25 (million).”
