GRPD gives 2020 crime report to city

The Grand Rapids Police Department is releasing its 2020 crime report.

GRPD Chief Eric Payne and Deputy Chief Kristen Rogers presented the report to the GR City Commission Public Safety Committee.

The department is acknowledging the city's deadliest year while also saying they made progress in some areas.

The department says they took 76,281 calls for service and 0.41 percent of those calls led to use of force by an office.

The department says that statistic is the lowest in four years.
