West MI seeing mosquito outbreak

West Michigan is seeing a mosquito outbreak after all the rain and wet conditions a few weeks ago.

Michigan State University entomology professor Ned Walker says this is the worst year in a couple of years.

The Saginaw County Mosquito Abatement Commission Director Bill Stankuszek says their traps normally catch 10 to 25 mosquitos at a time however, they are currently catching over 1,000.

Walker says the bugs aren't the dangerous mosquitos that carry West Nile or Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
