Protestors gathered outside the Muskegon County administration building as commissioners debated a resolution to censure a member inside.
Commissioner Zach Lahring posted to Facebook mocking fellow Commissioner Bob Scholnik.
The post used a slur to question Scholnik's relationship with the LGBTQ community.
Lahring says he has a right to exercise his free speech.
