Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officials say the death of a nine-year-old boy could have been an accident.
The boy died at the hospital after he was shot at a home in Kalamazoo's Edison neighborhood.
Officers are interviewing family members.
KDPS has not released information on if the gun was locked up before the shooting.
