Muskegon beach installs traffic light-like system to save lives

A new warning system is now up and running at Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon.

The new system looks like a traffic light and is used to warn swimmers of water conditions.

The green lights means the water is calm.

A yellow light means there is a moderate risk for swimmers.

A red lights means people should not get in the water.

The lights automatically update as conditions change throughout the day.
