Backyard swim school closing after 33 years

After teaching kids lifesaving water skills in her backyard for over three decades, Miss Rita's Swim School has to shut down or will face legal action from the city.

The city did not get involved until last year when they received complaints from Rita Shalhoup's neighbors.

A letter sent to Rita by Grandville Assistant City Attorney Seth Arthur says there is excess litter, noise and traffic in the neighborhood which violates city ordinances.

The letter gives Miss Rita 14 days to comply or face legal action.
