Coopersville residents should limit water use and boil water before using it.
The city of Coopersville issued the advisory on Wednesday saying a leak will cause the loss of water pressure which may lead to bacterial contamination.
A water line will be shut down from 5:30 p.m. until around 1 a.m.
The problem is expected to be resolved within three days.
