GRPD investigates officer punching man after traffic stop

The Grand Rapids Police Department is opening an Internal Affairs investigation into the traffic stop where an officer punched a man several times.

Police body camera video from the incident on March 26 has been shared on social media.

Officers initially pulled the car over for littering however the traffic stop led to four recovered weapons and three felony arrests.

GRPD Chief Eric Payne says they take any kind of force by an officer seriously.
