Saturday is Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Drug Enforcement Administration has worked over the last decade to get people to clear out their medicine cabinets of expired or unwanted prescription drugs.

The program is now on its 11th year with a Take Back event scheduled for Saturday, April 24.

Assistant Special Agent Steve Verdow says the event is more important than ever as overdoses increased 30 percent last year.

At the last Take Back Day, the DEA collected 500 tons of unwanted drugs.
