MSP joining campaign targeting distracted drivers

Michigan State Police say drivers should think twice before using their phone behind the wheel.

The department is joining the national campaign for Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Sgt. Andrew Jeffrey says while driving, you travel hundreds of feet every second which can cause problems if your reactions are delayed due to distracted driving.

Tickets for a first offense start at $100 and can increase for repeat offenders.
