A Kalamazoo native is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic on the frontline thousands of miles from home.
First Lt. Megan Maxey is working as an Army nurse at the Cal State LA community vaccine center in Los Angeles.
She says the area has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and individuals are very excited to get their vaccines.
Maxey says she enlisted in the Army as she has always had a passion for helping people.
