Woman freed from car after crashing into St. Joseph river

Michigan State Police say a woman is safe after she crashed her car into the St. Joseph River.

The incident happened around 10 a.m.

The woman was driving on East River Road, swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of her vehicle.

She hit two trees and a utility pole before her car went off a ledge.

The woman was trapped inside the vehicle but was freed with non-life-threatening injuries.
