Hudsonville man sentenced to prison after son drowned in pool

A Hudsonville man was sentenced on Monday for the 2019 drowning of his teen son who had autism.

Judge Jon Hulsing sentenced Timothy Koets to two to 15 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and one year for fourth-degree child abuse.

His son, 16-year-old Sam Koets, drowned in the family's pool in March 2019.

Koets was also sentenced to two to four years in prison for continuing to fill his sons' Ritalin prescription after he died.
