MI confirms almost 8,700 more COVID-19 cases

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is confirming another 8,689 cases of COVID-19 and 81 deaths.

The statewide labs tested 67,058 samples for the virus and found a positivity rate of 14.04 percent.

Officials say a rate of three percent shows community spread is controlled.

Kent County confirmed 610 cases and five more deaths.
