A Kent County Judge who is gay says Pope Francis is brave to support same-sex unions.
In "Francesco", a documentary about the Pope's life, he said, "homosexual people have a right to be a part of a family."
The documentary was released at the Rome Film Festival on Wednesday.
63rd District Judge Sara Smolenski was denied communion at her East Grand Rapids Church last year because she is married to a woman.
