GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In July, Justice for Black Lives, a local nonprofit, requested the city change the name of Monroe Center to commemorate the life of Breonna Taylor.
On Tuesday, the Grand Rapids City Commission approved the request, designating Monroe Center from Division to Monroe as "Breonna Taylor Way".
Many callers at a public hearing in September were in support of the honorary name change.
