GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - During a press conference Thursday morning, Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Eric Payne has called the number of homicides this year "outrageous and disheartening".
He said that GRPD would have more officers on the streets this weekend, looking to continue to build relationships with the community, while also targeting criminals.
A similar initiative occurred a few weeks ago, GRPD arrested 34 people and seized several guns.
