GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Just three days after the Michigan Supreme Court ruled Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders related to coronavirus were not valid, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has revived many of the same rules with its own emergency order.

Under the new epidemic order signed by MDHHS Director Robert Gordon, persons are required to wear masks in public, including at schools; limits the size of gatherings; set capacity limits for public places; and tells bars they must shut down indoor common areas where people can congregate or dance.

State officials said In a release issued today that the order is based on a separate law, rather than the one that the state Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional.
