There are three people running for the position of Kent County Sheriff in November.
Current Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young was appointed to the position in 2018 after previous Sheriff Larry Stelma retired. She is running for the position.
Marc Burns is running after retiring from the sheriff's department with 26 years of experience.
Insurance agency owner John Stedman is also running for the position to hold the office more accountable to the community.
