GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Tomorrow, Sept. 2 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Here in West Michigan, The Greatest Generation Day Committee with the help of the Gerald Ford Museum is hosting a flyover to commemorate this day in history.

Organizers say the B-17 Flying Fortress...one of the more prominent bombers in the war, along with the paratrooper famous C-47 and the B-25 will take off from Ypsilanti and Yankee Air Museum in Belleville Wednesday afternoon.

The aircraft flight path will take the planes over the capitol in Lansing with the timeline placing them over Ada at 5:55 p.m. before reaching Grand Rapids about five minutes later where they’ll make three passes along the Grand River.
