US Army Corps of Engineers: Lake Michigan just 1" below highest level ever

DETROIT (WOOD) — Forecasters said this week's heavy rains continued to push Lake Michigan to record levels and they believe it will continue to rise in the coming weeks.

In their weekly report released Friday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ said Lake Michigan is now 5 inches above the high water record for the month of June, set in 1986.

The report showed the big lake is now just 1.3 inches below the highest level ever recorded on Lake Michigan, which was set in October 1986.
