LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan’s COVID-19 outbreak continues on a downward trend, yet 607 more cases of the virus were confirmed Thursday, bringing the statwide total to 56,621 since March.
Officials said the state data released Friday afternoon, showed 34 more deaths linked to the virus for a total of 5,406.
Gov. Whitmer said during her Friday briefing, “We’ve seen numbers decease in much of the state. That is cause for optimism.”
There was one more recorded death in Kent County for a total of 80 countywide. It has had 3,596 cases, 56 more than the day previous.
State officials said Ottawa County saw two more deaths for a total of 33. It has had 759 cases.
Also on Friday, Michigan Health Dept. debuted a new website, MI Symptoms, designed with help from the University of Michigan, where people can log how they are feeling daily to help identify COVID-19 symptoms.
